NJC offering special fall wellness series

September 12, 2011

First session to be held September 20

Northeastern Junior College and the Sterling Federal Credit Union have teamed up to offer another outstanding line up of free panel discussions again this year. The on-going dialogue will be centered around seven aspects of wellness. The series, ?The Seven Pillars of Wellness,? provides information designed to help those who participate to find total well-being of the mind, body and spirit.

The seven areas to be covered include: social and environmental wellness, body and soul, family health, physical health, intellectual health, occupational health and emotional wellness.

The panel discussions, which are free and open to the public, will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on campus. The panels will be composed of individuals representing area agencies or experts who specialize in the topic of the evening. Each discussion will leave plenty of time for a question and answer session.

The line-up of topics and the date for registration is as follows: ?

September 20: Social/Environmental ? Communication, enhancing relationships, nature/green choices. Register by: Sept. 15

September 27: Body/Soul ? Spiritual, meditation, inner peace. Register by: Sept. 22

The Extended Studies department at Northeastern is excited to offer this series, which is a follow up to the Takes More Than Love presentations that were very well-attended last year. That series dealt with many of the elements surrounding aging parents and the hard decisions that often impact the elderly. Attendance during that series drew better than 40 participants per date.? The department asks that people call to register for the dates of their choosing for the Seven Pillars of Wellness as this allows the coordinators to be able to make sure adequate seating and handouts are in place.

To register, please call Jessica at 521-6900 and specify which dates you plan to attend. The location will be provided to you upon registration. Anyone wanting specific details or with questions may contact Diana Anderson at 521-6685.
