Hardware-wise, we're not really looking at anything different here. Same 5-inch Super AMOLED display. Same Android 4.2.2 with Samsung's TouchWiz atop it. Same 1.9 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. Same paltry 16GB of on-board storage space -- only we know that's not quite true.
Where AT&T differs from Sprint, aside from a handful of AT&T-specific applications -- of course is in the network. So we'll see how this thing handles a day of proper LTE versus spotty EVDO. Like many of you, I'm particularly interested in the camera. Will it be a better all-around choice? Will I miss Zoes and Video Highlights too much? Will I, like so many of you, be underwhelmed by an iterative design instead of a radical overhaul?
Only one way to find out. Time for the Samsung Galaxy S4 to live in my pocket for a few weeks. Join me in our Galaxy S4 forums, will ya?
Iraqi authorities have suspended the licenses of 10 satellite TV channels for promoting violence and sectarianism through their coverage of recent wave of violence in the country.
Iraq?s leading al-Sharqiya and Qatar-based Al-Jazeera are among the pan-Arabic channels whose operating licenses were revoked on Sunday.
The Iraqi Communication and Media Commission said in a statement that the satellite channels had ?exaggerated things, given misinformation and called for breaking the law and attacking Iraqi security forces?.
The watchdog also blamed the stations for promoting ?banned terrorist organizations who committed crimes against Iraqi people.?
Other eight affected channels are: al-Sharqiya News, Salahuddin, Fallujah, Taghyeer, Baghdad, Babiliya, Anwar 2 and al-Gharbiya.
Iraq has been hit by a fresh wave of violence since Tuesday after security forces clashed with militants and protesters in the northern town of Hawija, near Kirkuk. Hawija incident sparked widespread violence. More than 200 people have been killed in Iraq the past six days.
On Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki called for national unity, saying the recent wave of the sectarian strife comes from outside the country.
Iraq has been the scene of demonstrations since December 2012, when bodyguards of former finance minister, Rafie al-Issawi, were arrested on terrorism-related charges.
The demonstrators accuse Maliki of discrimination against Sunni Muslims. Maliki, however, has denied accusations, saying regional countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey are fueling sectarian tensions in Iraq.
Manitoba now has a new strategic action plan to prevent workplace injury and illness and to better ensure every worker makes it home safely at the end of the day. This announcement was made by Family Services and Labour Minister Jennifer Howard.
?This comprehensive strategy follows the province?s most extensive review of injury and illness prevention in more than a decade and doubles resources dedicated to injury and illness prevention,? said Howard. ?It strengthens our safety and health laws and will ensure employers are rewarded for practices that make their workplaces safer and healthier.?
The Manitoba government?s Five Year Plan for Injury and Illness Prevention incorporates recommendations from three reports issued in early April as part of a wide-ranging review of workplace injury and illness prevention.
The new strategy details plans for:
doubling funding for prevention services,
creating new requirements under the Workplace Safety and Health Act that more clearly define workers? legal rights, require mandatory orientation of new workers and provide stronger protection when a worker refuses unsafe work,
investing in resources that will ensure every high school student has access to workplace health and safety information in the classroom or online, and materials to help parents prepare their children to know about their rights to a safe workplace when they start their first job,
strengthening support for emergency responders and other workers in high-trauma jobs,
providing more ways for the public to report unsafe workplaces including a one-stop phone number for reporting unsafe workplace or injuries,
requiring mandatory safety orientation for new workers,
providing a mobile safety lab to bring safety awareness training and tools to rural worksites,
ensuring every new business in Manitoba gets information about their responsibilities to prevent injuries,
creating a leadership team of business owners and executives who have shown their commitment to safety and can help inform and mentor other business owners,
increasing enforcement of rules to prevent bullying and violence in the workplace, and
reviewing every workplace death to learn lessons about prevention.
?Dedicating more resources to prevention will help make Manitoba one of the safest places to work in North America,? said Howard. ?Enforcement is also an important part of injury prevention and our safety and health laws will be among the strongest in the country. Safety and health officers will now have the tools needed to ensure compliance.?
The minister also announced the Workers? Compensation Board of Manitoba will develop a strategy to eliminate claim suppression and inappropriate returnto-work practices, while ensuring employers that engage in genuine injury prevention are recognized and rewarded. That new strategy is expected in the fall of 2013.
?I?d like to thank Mr. Dave Gaudreau, MLA for St. Norbert, who assisted in conducting the comprehensive review of injury and illness prevention in our province,? said Howard. ?I also extend my gratitude to the many Manitobans who provided their input and recommendations.?

A For Sale by Owner type of real estate transaction has several common misconceptions. If you are looking for a place that talks about the myths and facts associated with this type of house sale, you have come to the right place. We are going to address some of the more common misconceptions and misinformation about this type of transaction and show that it can be a positive experience for all parties involved.
Myth #1: I have to know a lot about real estate in order to sell my house on my own. I should be licensed as a real estate agent or at least take some classes.
Truth: While it can be extremely helpful to know the laws about real estate in your area, you do not have to know it all. Many times you can hire an experience real estate lawyer for much less than the agent's commission and you are legally covered. These lawyers can provide you with the necessary contracts so that the sale is legal and binding. You may benefit from real estate classes or some simple online training but you don't have to be licensed to sell your own property. Legally, any owner can sell their property without having a real estate license.
Myth #2: I need to be great with people to sell my house.
Truth: You shouldn't be scared of people. There are some people who have a natural aversion to people and would consider themselves a hermit. Most people, however, can talk to other human beings on a one-on-one basis. If you are nervous in crowds, you have the ability to limit showings to one person at a time. You never have to host an open house and you can ask to only speak with the actual buyer, not their entire family. If you work and interact with people on a daily basis, limited or not, you can perform the necessary talking that will sell your house.
Myth #3: I'll make a larger profit when I do a FSBO.
Truth: While many sellers do report making a larger profit, many experience the benefit of simply not paying money out of their own pocket. In this current housing market, the competition is plentiful and you may need to lower the asking price to compete in the market. You have to be willing to compromise to have a successful sale. When you lower the price, you may not have the leftover money from the sale to pay an agent and concessions. A FSBO will let you skip that part and lower the price enough to sell but you may not make a substantial gain on the house.
Myth #4: People will call and stop by at all hours of the day and night.
Truth: You will get phone calls, emails, and even drive-bys. Don't think of them as a nuisance, but rather as money in your pocket. These are potential buyers and the faster you can get them to buy, the sooner you can be done with the hassles. It may be a pain to have the showings and distribute the info, but in reality when you use an agent, they don't clean for you, make the decisions for you, or even create a budget for you. Those are all items you will do on your own so why pay an agent to do that.
Myth #5: It will hurt my neighbors and area to have a FSBO instead of a "real" sale.
Fact: When a house sells, the price is recorded. Depending on where you live it can be public information. Regardless of how it sells, the information is recorded. Even if you sell your own house, your area will not be hurt by it. Would your neighborhood benefit from a new person moving in and buying the house or from the house sitting vacant with the ability for squatters and vandalism? You need to sell your house so why not do it while you are in control?
Taking control of your real estate situation means doing what is best for you and your situation. Don't allow others to determine or intimidate you into a decision. Real estate gives you the ability to control the future and you can be in complete control of the transaction.

President Barack Obama in the Oval Office of the White House on April, 2, 2013. (Pablo Martinez Monsivais/AP)President Barack Obama will pay back 5 percent of his annual government salary to the U.S. Treasury. It's a move meant to signal solidarity with federal workers facing furloughs because of automatic spending cuts known as sequestration, the White House said Wednesday.
Obama makes $400,000 in presidential pay (though, thanks in part to book royalties, his 2011 tax filings show that his adjusted gross income that year was $789,674). Between now and Oct. 1, the end of the 2013 fiscal year, he will cut monthly checks that will total $20,000, an aide told Yahoo News.
The announcement came one day after the Pentagon revealed that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel would return 14 days? pay, or roughly $10,750, based on his annual salary of $199,700.
The symbolic move came amid widespread news reports that sequestration ?deep, indiscriminate government spending cuts?were hitting Americans? bottom line and leaving gaps in key services.
The New York Times first reported Obama?s decision.
?The salary for the president, as with members of Congress, is set by law and cannot be changed,? another aide said to Yahoo News on condition of anonymity. ?However, the president has decided that to share in the sacrifice being made by public servants across the federal government that are affected by the sequester, he will contribute a portion of his salary back to the Treasury.?

The term 'living fossil' has a controversial history. For decades, scientists have argued about its usefulness as it appears to suggest that some organisms have stopped evolving. New research has now investigated the origin of tadpole shrimps, a group commonly regarded as 'living fossils' which includes the familiar Triops. The research reveals that living species of tadpole shrimp are much younger than the fossils they so much resemble, calling into question the term 'living fossil'.
Darwin informally introduced the term 'living fossil' in On the Origin of Species when talking about the platypus and lungfish, groups that appear to have diversified little and appear not to have changed over millions of years. For him living fossils were odd remnants of formerly more diverse groups, and suggestive of a connection between different extant groups. Ever since, the term has been widely used to describe organisms such as the coelacanth, the horseshoe crab and the ginkgo tree. The term has been controversial, as it appears to suggest that evolution has stopped altogether for these organisms, and some scientists have argued that it should be abandoned.
Tadpole shrimps are a small group of ancient crustaceans (a group which includes the familiar Triops) that are often called 'living fossils', because the living species look virtually identical to fossils older than the dinosaurs. Analysing DNA sequences of all known tadpole shrimps, and using fossils from related crustacean groups ? such as the water flea and the brine shrimp ? the team of researchers, from the University of Hull, University of Leicester and the Natural History Museum in London, showed that tadpole shrimps have in fact undergone several periods of radiation and extinction.
Different species of tadpole shrimp often look very similar (they are called 'cryptic species'), and so it is only with the advent of DNA sequencing that scientists have realized that they are a surprisingly diverse group. The team's results uncovered a total of 38 species, many of them still undescribed. This abundance of 'cryptic species' makes it very difficult for fossils to be assigned to any particular species as they all look remarkably similar. For example, 250-million-year-old fossils have been assigned to the living European species Triops cancriformis whereas the team's results indicate that the living T. cancriformis evolved less than 25 million years ago. First author Tom Mathers says "In groups like tadpole shrimps where cryptic speciation is common, the fossil record says very little about patterns of evolution and diversification and so the term 'living fossil' can be quite misleading. For this reason, we used fossils from related groups to gain an understanding about the evolution of tadpole shrimps".
The lead author Africa G?mez said, "Living fossils evolve like any other organism, they just happen to have a good body plan that has survived the test of time. A good analogy could be made with cars. For example the Mini has an old design that is still selling, but newly made Minis have electronic windows, GPS and airbags: in that sense, they are still 'evolving', they are not unchanged but most of the change has been 'under the hood' rather than external. By comparison, organisms labeled as 'living fossils' such as tadpole shrimps, are constantly fine-tuning their adaptation to their environment. Although outwardly they look very similar to tadpole shrimp fossils from the age of the dinosaurs, their DNA and reproductive strategies are relatively hidden features that are constantly evolving. The flexibility of their reproductive strategies, which our research has revealed, could be the evolutionary trick that has allowed them to persist as a morphologically conservative group for so long"
